What is GLife?

GLife is a collection of various merchant mini-apps within GCash. The biggest advantage of this is that you can access services from supported merchants and partners using your GCash account – you do not need to create a separate account with the partner.

Plus, you have access to your GCash funds in your account at all times when you make purchases using merchant apps within GLife. This is convenient as you do not need to worry about payments. If you had to create a separate account at the merchant, you would also need to setup a payment method. But in GLife, you can simply use your GCash balance to make purchases.

What is GScore?

GScore is a score that GCash assigns to your account to indicate the financial well-being and health of your GCash account. Your GScore signifies how well are you paying your loans on time, and how actively you use GCash and its various services.

In this sense, your GScore behaves like your credit score, but within the GCash ecosystem. Just like banks and financial institutions will make lending and other financial decisions keeping your credit score in view, so will GCash but by looking at your GScore.

In is, therefore, no surprise that your GScore has a direct impact on your qualification and interest rate for various GCash lending services like GLoan, GCredit and GGives. Keep your GScore healthy to make sure you get favorable interest rates for using these GCash services.

How do I keep my GScore high?

Follow some of the best practices below to keep your GScore healthy:

  • Keep a healthy positive balance in your GCash account, and Cash In often to ensure you do not go too low on your wallet balance.
  • Use GCash as much as you can – the more you use GCash, the better your GScore will be.
  • Pay all your GCash loan payments on time. Just like your credit score gets affected negatively when you fall behind on loan payments to your bank, so will your GScore for missing payments.
  • Participate in GSave and GInvest – these services help you get a return on your investment, plus they help keep your GScore high.
  • Take advantage of GCredit and try to maximize its usage – this will also help boost up your GScore.

Your GScore is critical to qualification for many GCash services, as well as getting favorable interest rates. Try to keep it as high as possible.

GCash determines the interest rate on your GLoan based on your GScore. The interest rate range you will pay will be between 1.59% to 6.57% per month. Note that the interest rate also depends on your GLoan duration – shorter the duration, the lesser the interest rate.

What durations can I get a GLoan for?

You can choose any of the following durations for your GLoan – 5 months, 9 months or 1 year.

How many GLoans can I have at any given time?

You can only have 1 active GLoan at any time. This means that if you intend to borrow more using GLoan, you must first pay off your existing GLoan.

Is there a processing fee to get a GLoan?

Yes, there is a processing fee for getting a GLoan. Currently, this fee is 3% of the loan amount, and will be deducted from your loan amount once your loan is approved and the funds are disbursed to you.

If you miss a payment on your GLoan installment, you will have to pay late fees. The penalty fee is PHP 100 fixed amount plus 0.15% daily charge calculated on your loan balance. Also, missing payments lowers your GScore, so try to ensure you make your loan payments on time.

Is it better to invest in GSave account with CIMB or with BPI?

Your GSave account can be backed by CIMB or BPI banks. But we recommend you choose CIMB as their interest rates are higher, and they have no minimum balance requirements.

You will earn a 2.5% interest on your GSave account with CIMB, and only 0.0925% with BPI. Additionally, CIMB has no service fees but BPI charges PHP 300 if your balance dips below PHP 3,000. CIMB also has no minimum account maintaining balance, nor minimum interest earning balance, so it is a better choice for you and hence our recommendation.

GSave is an excellent way to earn interest on your money. Use CIMB to earn more interest and avoid fees and limits.
